Happy Hunger Games... and other random Thursday thoughts

Well... I finally saw it! The hubby and I were able to grab an afternoon movie and this was the clear choice. And I loved it! Seriously... I thought they did a great job getting this from book to screen. I am a huge fan of the book series. It did feel rushed and some things were a little different from the books but hey... they're working with limited time and they can't get every, little, tiny detail in there. Overall though, I thought it was awesome. And my hubby is officially hooked. I have never seen him get so into a movie, haha! He's ready to read the books when he has some free time.

The buzz that this movie has generated has had so many people comparing it to Twilight and, in my personal opinion, I thought this was leaps and bounds above the Twilight movie series. Now don't get me wrong... I love me some Edward and Jacob. I've read the entire Twilight series and (sadly) own every Twilight movie but let's get real... Hunger Games is way better! Y'all have got to go see this if you haven't already. And I'm kind of glad we waited until after the weekend because it was just us and a handful of others in the theater.

I'm really looking forward to the next installment of the movie series to catch a little more of Gale but I am totally Team Peeta! And... the two leads are KY kids y'all! Way to represent ;)

On another note... is it Saturday yet?!?! I am soooo pumped for our big game against Louisville. For those of y'all who don't know, UK and UL are the biggest rivals. Literally! The fans go nuts when these two teams play one another and we've got ourselves a big matchup this Saturday, in the Final Four. Clearly, I bleed blue! Go CATS!

A little pic from my days as a UK dance team girl... seriously some of the best times of my life!

Alrighty, off I go to finish up my to-do list for the day. Have a great day ladies, xoxo

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday y'all! Here's what I'm loving today:

I'm loving that today is a day that I get to spend with my hubby! He has worked some pretty long hours at the hospital the past several days so it's nice to have him all to myself :)

I'm loving these Tory Burch shoes. I've been drooling over them all morning, haha! Perfect for spring and summer!

I'm loving some of my Pinterest finds from this past week.

And, as always, I'm loving my sweet, sweet hubby! He has been working so hard lately and I am constantly amazed by his dedication and hard work :)

I hope y'all have a great day!

Sun On My Face

Where has my warm weather and sunshine gone?!?! Well, the sunshine is still here but it has been chilly here for the past few days. I was in flip flops last week and now my Uggs are back on my feet keeping my tootsies warm. The hubby and I were sitting around this morning, after breakfast, talking about how much we are craving a trip to the beach... a southern beach. Since being in Connecticut these past several months, we have grown to love the New England coast but there is just something about a good ol' southern beach with palm trees everywhere you look. Know what I'm sayin? So now I'm daydreaming about the ocean, lazy days at the beach, and getting a tan.

Okay... these 40 degree temps have got to go for this southern girl! Hope y'all have a great day!

Being A Biblical Wife in a Modern World

Clean Your Plate!

When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted."
~ John 6:12 ~

This morning I discovered just how wasteful I really am. I mean... I'm a pretty wasteful person. Whether it's food, clothes, money... I can throw it away in the snap of a finger. Examples: I pulled out a dish from a meal that my hubby and I had recently shared and there was still a good serving or two left but unfortunately, we just let it sit in the fridge. Wasteful. A couple of weeks ago I discovered a bin of clothes under our bed. It was full of several shirts and pants and the majority of these items haven't been touched in 2 years. Wasteful. I have a pile of books sitting on our bookshelf because the price on Amazon was just too good to pass up. Wasteful. I'm hoping many of you can relate! And let's not even get started on how much time we can all waste. In John 6:12, Jesus clearly instructs his disciples to waste nothing. This is an instruction for us as well... waste nothing!

It is a command that I'm sure many of us tend to overlook. At times, I know I am guilty of taking the food on my table or the money in my bank account for granted. I was looking in mine and my hubby's closet the other morning and I felt disgusted by the fact that I was complaining that I had nothing to wear. I have plenty to wear and then some! I have things sitting in my closet just collecting dust. When I make that trip to Target, is it really necessary to pick up those "extra" items... every time? NO! That is money that I could put towards a much greater cause. All these little "things" add up to so much more and it is astonishing to sit here and reflect on how much "stuff" I have wasted.

Reading this verse really struck a chord with me and made me realize that I must do a better job at giving back and utilizing everything that God has blessed us with. As believers, we have the gift to reach out and share His teachings. We have the capability to show the world our beliefs and share God's goodness, but are we wasting these gifts? Are we truly taking advantage of each and every interaction and conversation to share the Lord's light? Are we truly using everything that He has given us?

There are so many people in this world who do not know the Lord or know what the Bible teaches. There are so many people who are stricken with hunger. There are so many people who do not know where their next paycheck is coming from. These thoughts are absolutely crushing but it makes me so thankful for what I do have and it makes me want to take care of and protect what I have been given. The Lord has always provided for me in some way so how in the world is it right that I'm wasting His blessings? It's not, so a change must be made. Let's not waste what the Lord has given our families. Let's not take these blessings for granted. We need to find ways to use these gifts and give back these gifts to others and share the love of the Lord with those around us.

Friday, Friday, Friday

Why is it that every Friday I cannot get that darn Rebecca Black song out of my head?!?! For real!

Anywho... yay for Friday and the weekend! Bad news first... the hubs has to work some crazy, long hours this weekend but... there is plenty going on to keep me distracted:

Tonight at 9:45 pm my KY Wildcats play Indiana in the Sweet 16. I'm confident that we'll win and I'm pretty pumped for the game!

The Hunger Games movie is FINALLY out! I feel like I've been counting down the days FOREVER! I'm going to wait for when the hubby can go with me to see it but the fact that it is actually out has this gal super excited.

And Sunday night is the two hour premiere of Mad Men. I'm seriously obsessed with this show and Season 5 is long overdue! I can't wait to see what Don and the crew are up to.

Have a Happy Friday y'all!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday y'all! I hope you're enjoying this gorgeous SPRING weather! Here's what I'm loving today:

I'm loving that I was able to make it back to Kentucky this past weekend for this event:

I was so honored to be a guest choreographer and the emcee for this awesome dance show. SCAPA is an arts school that I graduated high school from and I was so humbled that my former teachers asked me to be a part of this special performance. I traveled back last month to set my piece and I was so proud to see it performed on stage. The dancers did an awesome job, if I do say so myself ;)

I'm loving my new find from good ol' Bath and Body Works. This smells so sweet and I love it for Spring and Summer!

I'm loving my $8 mascara find too! This gal loves her Dior mascara but lets face it... the budget does not always allow for such fun items ;) This Maybelline brand is seriously great though and the price is even better!

I'm loving some of my Pinterest finds from this past week:

And, as always, I'm loving my sweet, sweet hubby and I am so proud of him! He has been spending lots of time working on an awesome research project and he just amazes me with his dedication to his work! Love him :)

Have a great day!
