What I'm Loving Wednesday

Hey y'all! Happy Wednesday... is it just me or is this week flying by? Here's what I'm loving today:

I'm loving that it is almost time for Spring! Warmer weather, everything back in bloom, and more sunshine. Our weather in the northeast has not been bad at all and we've had a fairly mild winter but I'm a southern girl at heart and I prefer my days nice and warm!

I'm loving the book I'm currently reading. "What Would Jackie Do?" It is a super cute book about Jackie Kennedy, etiquette, and all the things us girls like to read about. If you know me than you know I absolutely love reading anything about Miss Jackie. Seriously... I'm fascinated by the woman!

I'm loving my Pinterest finds this week. Can I also just brag a little bit and tell you that I stayed off of there for more than 24 hours the other day? That has to be some kind of record... right? Ha! No worries ladies, I made up for it this morning by pinning away!

You can follow my pins here!

And as always, I'm loving my sweet, sweet hubby! I can't wait to pick him up at the airport tonight! He had a whirlwind interview trip to Orlando. Is it sad that I miss him and he hasn't even been gone 24 hours?!?! I just love that man!

Have a great day!

Being A Biblical Wife in a Modern World

Staying Focused

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
~ Matthew 6:33~

"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit."
~Romans 8:5~

As women and wives, our days are stacked full of constant "to do" lists. Staying on top of our work, keeping our homes somewhat presentable, cooking meals for our loved ones, keeping our hubby organized, making time to call a close friend, etc,...etc,... Our lists are constant and at times can seem never ending but isn't it such a wonderful feeling when everything is checked off our lists? It doesn't happen too often for me but when everything on that list is completed and marked off, I know that I can finally enjoy some "me" time.

When we have our alone time and can enjoy those rare moments of resting and being lazy, do we turn to God and spend those moments with Him? Or do we turn to other things like the TV and internet? I admit that I fall with the latter group. I am so quick to open up my computer and check Facebook and Twitter or log in to Pinterest and start pinning away. It's easy to click on the TV or throw in a movie to watch or curl up on the couch and read the latest book series. And while these things can be great and fun, we so easily place them higher on our priority list above spending that quiet, one on one time with God and with His Word.

I think it is so important for us to take a step back and re-evaluate how we prioritize our "extra" time. For me, this past month was absolutely hectic and was full of work and lots of traveling for work! Sometimes we don't get that coveted "me" time and our time with God can feel limited and maybe even slip through the cracks. It is always so easy to come up with an excuse. "I'll do that Bible Study tomorrow." "I'll catch up on my devotions later." "I'm just too tired to pray right now." Do any of these things sound familiar? They certainly do to me! In between the hustle and bustle of the month of February I didn't have a lot of down time but when I did, I didn't prioritize my time well.

I woke up yesterday just not feeling right. I felt like something was missing. It is difficult to describe the feeling but it was almost as if I was craving something. And then it hit me... I was craving God's Word. I was craving some quality "me" time with the Lord. I had denied myself this important time and totally taken it for granted when I found myself tired or overwhelmed. I still prayed daily and read my devotions here and there but I had gotten out of the routine of my Bible Study and my "God tank" was running pretty close to empty!

I don't ever want to feel too busy for God but I understand that life happens and sometimes our schedules get hectic but as women and wives, we need to be a leader and a model for how to keep our priorities straight. We can say that we put God first but our actions speak much louder than our words. We need to show God that we put Him first and then everything else will fall into place.

Book Review!

I finally finished the last book in the "Hunger Games" trilogy... "Mockingjay"! I read the first two books in 3 days. Due to my hectic schedule the past few weeks, it took me a little longer to get through this one but I totally loved it. I may have stretched this one out because I didn't want to the story to come to an end. So many things happen in just a few hundred pages. Collins definitely knows how to keep her readers on edge and I just love her writing style. It is so easy to fall in love with the characters and to become attached. I know that sounds so corny but it's so true! The "Hunger Games" trilogy was a reminder for why I love to read. Collins' storytelling introduces you to a whole new world and allows the readers to create their own image of the characters, the setting, etc,...

I wish there were more books in this series! I am seriously pumped for the movies though... I only hope that they live up to the books! I also confess that I am officially obsessed with these books. I may or may not be counting down to the movie release and I may or may not have watched the trailer again this morning. It's okay... I know it's nerdy, haha!

Happy Hunger Games ;)

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Ladies, I have been so out of the loop and on a totally wacky schedule for the past 3 weeks... more on that in another post! I am super thankful for a beautiful, sunny, Kentucky day and here are some things that I'm loving:

I'm loving this new blog that I found through Pinterest... Reservation for Two. Since becoming a wifey I have really enjoyed trying out new recipes and cooking some yummy meals for the hubs. This blog has some great recipes and they are the perfect portions for two. Love, love, love and I can't wait to try out a new meal this weekend.

I am loving my Vday gift from my hubby :) Tory Burch black, patent leather flats... classic, timeless, and perfect! My hubby has good taste, haha

I'm loving that Best Buy had this on sale this past weekend. B and I have been eyeing Season 7 for quite some time so we just finally gave in. We never get bored from this show... so funny!

I'm loving my Pinterest finds this week:

Being A Biblical Wife in a Modern World

L-O-V-E

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres".

~ 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 ~

Though it is often clouded by flower deliveries, candies, and Hallmark cards, Valentine's Day is a wonderful and sweet day to celebrate the one you love. It is fun to go and get a little gift for your hubby or beau but when we dig a little deeper we realize that Valentine's Day is more than just chocolate covered strawberries... it's a day to really celebrate love.

Our verse for the day is one that is known to many but applied by few. This verse was read at our wedding because we truly believe in these words and in the message that God is teaching us. This beautiful description of what love looks like is an amazing example of what God's love looks like. He is patient, He is kind, He is slow to anger, He is the Truth, He protects us, He is our Hope. What a remarkable model we have to look for what love truly looks like.

To love someone is hard. To put your trust in someone and to lay your heart and feelings in the hands of another can be challenging but within a marriage it is necessary and, ultimately, a truly amazing experience. When I first met my hubby I knew he was like no other... he was sincere, honest, and passionate about his faith and he was the upmost southern gentleman, which totally scored him major points but there was something else and the more I got to know him, the more I realized what a Godly man he really is. Now... my hubby is not perfect by any means but he has to be the most patient, the most forgiving, and the most selfless person that I've ever met and each day he is my "earthly" reminder of what love is and what love looks like.

My relationship with God is clearly on a whole other overwhelming level but I am so thankful and so fortunate to have my hubby show me what love is each and every day. We are blessed to know His Word and to have such an incredible guide to model our marriage after and though it is not always sunshine and roses, it is ours and it is our love.

So go celebrate a lovely Valentine's Day with that handsome man of yours but remember that every day should be a special day and every day is a new day to celebrate the love you share.

Back to Reality...

At this time last week I was boarding a plane to head to Disney to meet up with my sis, my mom, and the rest of the LHS dance team. I've been back in KY since Monday and I just now feel like I'm caught up on my sleep! It was a long, tiring trip but between a scratched cornea
(my sis) and 5:00 am wake up calls, we made it ;)

PS... can I please be a Disney Princess?!?! I was kind of bummed that I wasn't able to see my fav, Ariel :(

After flying back to KY on Monday, the rest of the day was spent running errands. I was absolutely worthless on Tuesday and yesterday was full of work and squeezing in a much needed blonde appointment!

Today starts a crazy 10 days of a couple choreography jobs. I'm super excited to be back in a studio and to be working with some pretty talented kiddos!

Okay... back to work now! Have a great day ladies!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday ladies!! Today's post is totes random... don't judge, haha! Here's some things that I'm loving on this gorgeous February day:

I'm loving my Psalm study that I'm doing via Wendy Pope, which is a part of Proverbs 31. Ladies... if you're looking for a great way to dive a little deeper into God's Word, this study is for you! Check it out ;)

I'm loving that my hair is finally long enough to braid across. Please disregard my sans makeup look and my noticeable roots... roots will be fixed next week, haha ;) I love finding fun, easy new hair do's!

I'm loving these fun pens that I picked up yesterday. They totally make my planner much more enjoyable to look at!

I'm loving some of my finds on Pinterest this week. I started a new board, "It's a Southern Thing" and I'm a tad obsessed with it! You can follow my boards here.

And, as always, I'm loving my sweet, sweet hubby! I am seriously so in love with him and feel so blessed to be married to my best friend!

Hope your Wednesday was awesome!
xoxo
