What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday y'all! I hope you're enjoying this gorgeous SPRING weather! Here's what I'm loving today:

I'm loving that I was able to make it back to Kentucky this past weekend for this event:

I was so honored to be a guest choreographer and the emcee for this awesome dance show. SCAPA is an arts school that I graduated high school from and I was so humbled that my former teachers asked me to be a part of this special performance. I traveled back last month to set my piece and I was so proud to see it performed on stage. The dancers did an awesome job, if I do say so myself ;)

I'm loving my new find from good ol' Bath and Body Works. This smells so sweet and I love it for Spring and Summer!

I'm loving my $8 mascara find too! This gal loves her Dior mascara but lets face it... the budget does not always allow for such fun items ;) This Maybelline brand is seriously great though and the price is even better!

I'm loving some of my Pinterest finds from this past week:

And, as always, I'm loving my sweet, sweet hubby and I am so proud of him! He has been spending lots of time working on an awesome research project and he just amazes me with his dedication to his work! Love him :)

Have a great day!

What Is In There?

I was carrying my purse the other day and it felt like I was lugging around a small child or two. Good grief my purse was beyond heavy! This morning I decided that it was finally time to clean out my bag and get it a little more organized (and a lot less heavy!)

Then I thought I would just share with y'all what I carry around in le purse on a day to day basis. Blog post plus cleaning equals me killing two birds with one stone.

First of all, here is the purse that I've been using lately:
My Burberry Packable Tote

And here is all the junk I squeeze into my oversized bag:

The Essentials
* Car Keys
* Wallet (includes all the important debit and credit cards, license, checks, and Fro-yo/Panera/Sephora rewards cards)
* iPhone... what did we do before these handy gadgets?
* Lilly Planner... I do not go anywhere without it! My life!

Reading Material
* Bible... always on me!
* My latest novel... currently reading "Maine". So far, so good!
* Current Real Simple mag

Tech-y Stuff
* Flip Camera
*Nikon Digital Camera... for when I don't carry around my D-SLR and for when my phone just won't do
*Something to plug into my car so I can listen to tunes while driving
* Pink headphones... always makes working out just a tad more fun ;)

Hands
*Hand cream from my lady Vicki
*Another hand sanitizer because germs outside of my home scare me...true story!

Beauty
*Hair ties/bobbi pins/headband... a bad hair day is likely to occur and a gal must always be prepared!
*MAC lipstick (pink, of course!)
*Chapstick... only Burt's Bees will do
*Too Faced lipgloss
*Flowerbomb perfume roll

Extra Stuff
*Sunglasses...never leave my purse!
*Fun colored pens to update my Lilly planner ;)
*Extra contacts
*Eye drops...because my eyes are constantly dry! What is the deal?!?!
*Gum

My purse was desperate for a clean out. I found old receipts, gum wrappers, an empty hand sanitizer bottle, one of the dogs rabies tags (what?!?!), my hubby's old iPod, and who knows what else, haha!

Hope y'all are having a great day!
xoxo

Being A Biblical Wife in a Modern World

Decisions, Decisions

"Be very careful, then, how you live- not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil."
~ Ephesians 5:15-16 ~

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
~ Jeremiah 29:11 ~

Jeremiah 29:11 has to be one of my favorite Bible verses and one that I find myself returning to time and time again. There have been several times throughout the past few years that I have felt completely and utterly overwhelmed and on the verge of a total breakdown, meltdown, or whatever going crazy is called! Since being married I certainly have not slowed down. Whether it's my job or my home life, something has always kept me busy. I enjoy being involved in 500 different activities and always like to dabble in projects that help me feel "creative". I like to expand my network base by doing extra, outside jobs, I like to fit in as much cleaning or errands as possible into one day, I want to invest myself in a Bible study, or two or three. As much as these things are all great uses of my time, I sometimes agree to things because I think it will benefit me. Me, me, me. These are things that are pleasing to me but am I pleasing God with how I'm choosing to spend my time? There have been numerous times where I have literally worn my body down to the point of being absolutely exhausted and sick; All because I was selfishly thinking of myself and what was beneficial for me.

I am so grateful that the Lord led me to my hubby because he finally turned on the light bulb inside of my head. I simply can not do everything and I can not please everyone. There are only 24 hours in a day and it is okay to say no and to not be involved in everything that I'm asked to do.

It's been awhile since I've read The Purpose Driven Life but the author, Rick Warren, poses an excellent question when it comes to deciding whether or not to agree to something.

"Does this activity help me fulfill one of God's purposes for my life?"

This seems like a fairly simple question but I find that it's not. Answering this question means feeling confident that you know your purpose and what God is calling you to do. I think we have all had times where we question what it is that we're meant to be doing in this earthly life of ours. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure that I understand what my full purpose is but I am faithful that God will continue to show me. From what God has revealed thus far, I am absolutely positive that I am here to fulfill more than one purpose. I am positive that most of us are here to serve a multitude of people and communities. Just think about all the "hats" we wear as wives and women. We're wives, Christians, chefs, boo boo fixers, daughters, sisters, workers, helpers, etc,...

My goal is to take this week and really pray and search for what my goals and purposes are at this time in my life. I want to create a mission statement for how I strive to live each day and how I plan to serve our Powerful and Almighty God. Maybe you can do the same. How do you want to represent Christ each day? What is your purpose as a wife? What goals at work and with God's help, how do you plan to reach them? Where do you feel God is leading you right now? I am a visual person and I like to have something in front me so I can really grasp its message. By writing a mission statement for what we want to accomplish, we have something tangible to refer back to and something to continue to grow from.

It can be a scary and intimidating task to go to God and search for our purpose but what an incredible thing to know that God already knows our purpose and in His timing He will reveal those precious gifts to us. We all have a purpose to contribute to those around us.

Prayers for you mission statements and I'm looking forward to what God reveals to us this week!

Yay for the Weekend/Summer Shape Up

Hey y'all! I am so happy that the weekend is here! My Saturday morning started off extra sweet when I walked into the kitchen and found my hubby making breakfast. Homemade breakfast sandwiches, orange juice, and a pot full of coffee... now that's a great way to get my day going :)

And my day just kept getting better since my Wildcats beat Florida and made it to the SEC Championship game tomorrow! It was a tough game but I knew the cats would pull through... C-A-T-S, CATS, CATS, CATS!! Can't wait to watch tomorrow!!

I'm super proud of myself for working out 4 days this week. It is certainly better than what I've been doing for the past month, ha! Here's my workouts from this past week:

Monday
20 minutes cardio on the elliptical

Tuesday
P()X Ab Ripper, 15 minutes yoga

Thursday
25 minutes cardio on the elliptical, 5 sets of 15 crunches on ball, 2 sets of 10 plank row and rotate, 15 minute stretch

Friday
2 mile walk

Certainly not my normal workout routine but it feels so good to get back into the swing of things. Have a great rest of your weekend, xoxo

I'm loving this sunshine and awesome weather! I believe Spring is around the corner and that makes this gal super happy!

Speaking of Spring... I'm loving these dresses from Anthropologie. These are perfect for those patio soirees and springtime get togethers. I'm thinking one of these needs to get in my closet soon ;)

And, as always, I'm loving my sweet, sweet hubby! He's had the last two days off from work and it was amazing to be able to spend some downtime with each other. I just love that man!

Summer Shape Up

I can not believe it is March! While it still feels super chilly outside, we know that warm weather is right around the corner... and that means swimsuit season will be upon us soon. I am so, so, so ready for spring/summer, time at the beach, and lots of sunshine!

For me, March always means that it's time to kick my workout routine up a notch. I may need to start a little slow as this past month my schedule has been all over the place and this lady has not been good about hitting the gym... oops! I have learned a few things as I continue to explore the world of "fitness". I use the term "fitness" loosely when I talk about it because I am hardly a gym guru ;) Anywho...

1) Do what you can, when you can

I have learned that it is silly to stress out over missed gym sessions or not feeling like I did a good enough workout. Anything is better than nothing and I refuse to beat myself up over working out. I've done that before and I was absolutely miserable and I hated exercising.

2) Find a balance

Just because we workout doesn't mean that we can eat whatever we want! As much as that pains me to admit, it is true. I'm pretty good about balancing what I eat and how much I work out and I have learned that eating well is just as important in order to lose a few pounds.

3) Keep it fun!

I don't know about y'all but I get bored pretty quickly if I'm not entertained by something. During the winter, I suck it up and get on the treadmill or elliptical but I would much rather be outside and actually be going somewhere while I run, ha! I never do the same workout twice in one week... for real... never! I honestly just do whatever I'm feeling that day. One day I may do 45 minutes on the elliptical and the next day I just do hardcore abs. I tend to find myself on a yoga mat pretty frequently but I count a 5 mile walk around downtown as a workout as well. Mix up and keep it interesting... if not, working out will be super boring!

So what's on my workout agenda tonight? Some light cardio and maybe some abs... we'll see how I'm feeling after the cardio!

I figure it is better for me to post some of my workouts here on a weekly basis so I can be accountable for what I'm doing. If not, I would probably just sit on the couch with a bag of Doritos and cupcakes watching Will and Grace, ha!

Have a great day ladies :)
xoxo
